Microsoft founder, Bill Gates , decided to relinquish his position as a board of directors at Microsoft. In addition to Microsoft, he also resigned from the position he occupied at the Berkshire Hathway insurance company. He announced the decision through a short article entitled “Focusing My Time”.

This 64-year-old man said he wanted to spend more time to explore the field of philanthropy . “I want to dedicate more of my time to focusing on the fields of philanthropy on aspects of health, global development, education and tackling climate change,” wrote Bill Gates.

Despite declaring his resignation from the board of directors, Bill Gates said he would still be involved with Microsoft, even though his involvement was not as much as before. He will still act as a “technology advisor” for Satya Nadella. “I will continue to assist Satya Nadella in shaping the vision and achieving the company’s main goals,” added Bill Gates. Bill Gates served on the Board of Directors after Satya Nadella was appointed as Microsoft’s CEO in 2014.

During this time, Bill Gates did often make social activities. In fact, he also participated in helping to overcome the corona virus pandemic outbreak. Gates founded Microsoft in 1975 with Paul Allen. He served as CEO of Microsoft until 2000.

After releasing his position as CEO, Bill Gates then focused on his charity foundation with his wife, Melinda. The donation was handed over to the World Health Organization (WHO) and several public health authorities in China.

Bill Gates has also allocated funds of 20 million US dollars to several regions of South Asia and Africa, to strengthen measures to prevent corona outbreaks. The largest amount of 60 million US dollars was poured by Bill Gates to fund the needs of diagnosis, patient management, to vaccine development by various parties such as the Epidemic Preparedness Innovation Coalition (CEPI).
