Two giant chip vendors, Qualcomm and Mediatek will release each company’s latest chipset in the near future. Mediatek will steal the start earlier than Qualcomm, which is on November 26 through the Mediatek Summit event.

Qualcomm itself plans to introduce its newest chipset between 3 to 5 December at the Tech Summit which will be held in Maui, Hawaii, USA. Regarding the chipset to be launched, Mediatek is strongly expected to introduce its first chipset that has adopted 5G technology.

If true, the chipset will be equipped with a Helio M70 multi-mode modem chip. The chip was exhibited by the Chinese vendor at the 2019 Computex event. The 5G chipset is reportedly carrying the MT6885 series, and will be processed with FinFET 7 nm fabrication technology.

On the other hand, Qualcomm is predicted to release the successor to Snapdragon 855, namely Snapdragon 865 to the audience at its annual event in early December. However, not much can be extracted from the processor designed for this flagship phone.

However, according to rumors, Snapdragon 865 will rely on Samsung’s latest 7nm EUV manufacturing technology. It is believed, fabrication technology owned by South Korean vendors has advantages in the level of power consumption.

In that area, performance is called 15 to 20 percent better than the competitor’s 7nm FinFET technology, TSMC. Well, the Snapdragon 865 chipset is also allegedly going to be present in two variants, namely the 4G variant and the 5G variant that has been equipped with a Snapdragon X55 5G modem, as summarized from GSMArena, Tuesday (11/12/2019).

However, it is not yet known when the two latest chipsets from Mediatek and Qualcomm will be available for smartphone vendors, even cellphones that will adopt them. However, it is interesting to see these two giant chipset vendors compete each other to introduce their latest products. We wait for the sequel.
