Instagram plans to increase the number of participants when doing live broadcasts on Instagram Live simultaneously. Initially, live broadcasts on Instagram Live can only be done by a maximum of two users simultaneously.
The plan was submitted directly by Instagram CEO, Adam Mosseri, in a question and answer session. “At the moment you can only broadcast live with one other person at a time.
We are looking at whether we can increase (the amount),” said Mosseri. However, the plan is still under consideration. Because, he also still considers other features that are more important and urgent.
There is no mention of the reasons behind Instagram’s plan to increase the capacity of the number of Instagram Live participants. However, compiled from Social Media Today, Wednesday (6/5/2020), it was probably motivated by the increasing trend of live streaming during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Because, at present, the digital platform is a solution and support the activities of many people while at home. Previously, in 2017, Instagram released the “Go Live with a Friend” feature that allows users to broadcast live with a friend with their respective Instagram accounts.
Not only that, last April, Instagram also presents a feature that allows users to watch Instagram Live shows via PC or laptop.
This new feature is an attempt by Facebook as the owner of Instagram, to provide live broadcast content via the desktop during the Covid-19 pandemic.
When accessed via PC, various live shows on Instagram will appear automatically and are placed first in the Instagram Stories row, like the appearance of the Instagram mobile application. Even so, users still have to create their live broadcast content via smartphones.
