MediaTek launches a new G series chipset, Helio G70 and G80 which focuses on mobile gaming. This latest G Series chipset brings HyperEngine gaming technology, advanced multi-camera, and connectivity to play games with minimal latency.
Helio G70 and G80 are intended for smartphone users and new premium game enthusiasts who want high-end features at a medium price. In addition to enhancements to HyperEnginemobile technology, this chipset also brings integrated Voice on Wakeup (VoW) features, multi-camera photography, and claimed overall faster performance.
“The MediaTek G series chipset enables device makers to innovate and meet consumer gaming demand,” said Yenchi Lee, Assistant General Manager, Wireless Business Unit, MediaTek in a written statement. With a 12 nm fabrication process, the MediaTek Helio G70 and G80 have two Arm Cortex A-75 CPUs that operate up to 2 GHz, plus six Cortex-A55 CPUs that operate up to 1.8 GHz to increase single and multicore performance.
To play games, the efficient and high-performance Arm Mali-G52 class graphics processor operates at 820MHz for the Helio G70 chipset and a 15 percent increase to 950MHz for the Helio G80. Both chipsets also support HyperEngine game technology, to ensure fast and smooth game action.
When the Wi-Fi signal is weak, Intelligent Speed Uplift technology in it will trigger Wi-Fi & LTE concurrency in just 13 milliseconds, ensuring a smooth and lag-free connection during game play. This also allows the option to put the phone on hold while in game mode, without a connection being lost. The Helio G70 and G80 chipsets are planned to be used in smartphones that enter the market from the end of February.
