Nintendo releases Pokemon Unite, the first Pokemon MOBA game

In an event titled Pokemon Presents that was held online on Wednesday, Nintendo officially announced its newest game, Pokemon Unite for Android, iOS, and Nintendo Swicth. Pokemon Unite became the first Pokemon game with the popular genre Multiplayer Online Battle Arena ( MOBA ).

Nintendo releases Pokemon Unite

This game is a collaboration between Nintendo and Tencent, previously known to have developed the MOBA Arena of Valor (AoV) game. In an 11-minute trailer uploaded on Nintendo’s YouTube, Pokemon Unite appears to provide 5-to-5 gameplay similar to other MOBA games. The most striking difference is seen in the form of the arena match.

Pokemon Unite has a long arena form stretching to the side (horizontal), where the player’s team base will be on the left side, while the opposing team’s base is on the right side of the arena. This game also presents Pokemon characters from various regions , ranging from Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise, and Pikachu from the Johto region, to Bewear from the Alola region.

The main objective in the Pokemon Unite game is to collect as many points as possible. Players can get points by fighting and capturing wild Pokemon that pass along the arena. After defeating wild Pokemon, the player’s Pokemon characters can also level up and evolve.

When leveling up, Pokemon players will get a variety of skill options, ranging from long range to close range skills. Thus, players can set what skills will be used during the match. Uniquely, Pokemon Unite does not present the usual element match system present in the Pokemon game franchise.

During play, players will meet the opposing team along the arena. On this occasion, players can fight against opposing teams and win points that they have previously collected.

Summarized from Phone Arena , Thursday (6/25/2020), Pokemon Unite will be released for free and can be played cross-platform ( cross-play ) on Nintendo Switch and mobile for Android and iOS. However, Nintendo is still reluctant to provide information when the first MOBA Pokemon game will be launched. We wait for it.
