Lenovo officially launched its newest workstation device, the ThinkStation P620. The computer is claimed to be the first workstation device in the world to use the latest processor (CPU) made by AMD that has just been introduced, namely Ryzen Threadripper Pro.
Lenovo Worldwide Product Manager, Jenni Ramsey, said that the ThinkPad P620 is the world’s first 64- core workstation platform. “The ThinkPad P620 is the world’s first 64- core workstation computer ,” Jenni claimed in a Lenovo product briefing held online last week.
“Not as a successor or successor to the P520, this workstation platform will be an additional portfolio of Lenovo’s existing mainstream workstation products ,” Jenni added.
This excellent computer feature is certainly located on the processor. Lenovo did not clearly state which AMD Ryzen Threadripper Pro processor to use.
However, the computer is certain to have a CPU configuration with up to 64 processor cores , with clock speeds of up to 4.0 GHz. It is known, only the AMD Ryzen Threadripper Pro 3995WX processor is equipped with that many cores , paired with 128 threads .
Other hardware configurations that are carried by the ThinkStation P620 consist of support for RAM speed of 3.2 GHz with a capacity of up to 512 GB and storage media up to 20 TB.
This computer can also accommodate two Nvidia Quadro RTX 8000 graphics cards (GPU) or four Nvidia Quadro RTX 4000 at once. There is also support for ThinkStation Diagnostics 2.0 technology, ThinkShield, and AMD Memory Guard that is able to protect various sensitive data stored on computers from a variety of physical attacks.
With a number of qualified specifications mentioned earlier, Corporate Vice President & General Manager of the OEM Client Business Unit of AMD, Jason Banta, claims that the ThinkStation P620 is capable of processing the workload of professional users.
“Because of the high demands from visual artists, architects and engineers today are increasingly complex, AMD and Lenovo work together to provide the performance, flexibility and reliability needed to handle their workloads,” Jason said at the same opportunity.
The latest workstation computer from Lenovo is planned to be available starting late September.
