The spread of the corona virus in the Middle East continues to increase. In Iran, the corona virus infection rate reaches 254 people, including Iranian Vice President for Women and Family Affairs, Mashoumeh Ebtekar.
Quoted by the Associated Press, Thursday (2/27/2020), the corona case in Iran has killed 26 people. This number is the highest death rate of corona cases in countries outside China.
Meanwhile, related to Ebtekar, as reported by Al Arabiya, the Iranian vice president was the first cabinet member of Iranian President Hassan Rouahani to be positively infected by corona.
To note, Iran has several vice presidents to take care of the President’s cabinet. First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri, then Vice President for Parliamentary Affairs Hossein Ali Amiri, Vice President for Women’s and Family Affairs Masoumeh Ebtekar, Vice President for Legal Affairs, Laya Jonaidi, and Vice President for Economic Affairs Mohammad Nahavandian.
The Chair of the Parliamentary Security and Foreign Affairs Committee, Mojtaba Zolnour announced in a video that he had also been infected with the disease. Two other Iranian officials – Parliament Member Mahmoud Sadeghi and Deputy Health Minister Iraj Harirchi – have also previously confirmed that they had contracted the virus from Wuhan City, China.
State media also reported on Thursday that Iranian cleric Hadi Khosroshahi died of the corona virus in Qom. Khosroshahi served as Iran’s ambassador to the Vatican after the 1979 revolution.
